The paperback cover of the paperback is available in a variety of forms. In addition to saddle stitching, there are two types of book wrapping commonly found in rubber-bound books in China: One is based on the thickness of the book block, and one groove is pressed at the upper and lower spine of the cover, and then the back of the book block is coated with glue. , with the cover on the back of the book; the other is more common, that is, according to the thickness of the book block, on the cover pressed four grooves, the back of the book block is painted with glue, and the cover is posted on the back of the book Most books and textbooks use this type of package. Under normal circumstances, when the book block is processed on the perfect binding machine, a 3 to 5 mm wide adhesive tape shall be painted along both sides of the booklet so that the book block is not only connected to the cover, but also can be sealed with the cover. Sealing the three bonds makes the book more secure. The two indentation lines on the cover are similar to the hinges of the gate, and the cover can be opened and closed freely along the indentation line, which is very practical.

Regardless of the form used, the book block after the parcel is completed must be trimmed with the cover on three sides. These two forms of parcels are simple in form and easy to mechanize, so most books use this form. However, this method also has many problems, such as difficult to read, thickness is limited, and monotonous style, can not meet the increasingly diverse needs of customers.

Therefore, whether there are some more novel forms of package that can provide our customers with more extensive choices? This is a concern for many bookbinding companies. Here are some of the commonly used rubber binding book packages abroad.

First, the Swiss package method

The Swiss binding method is one of the most beautiful of the many binding books binding methods to be introduced below. This method was first named by the Martini company of Switzerland in the name of their country, because it was the first time they had implemented this method of mechanized processing. This kind of elegant package form is often used in brochures, albums, and product brochures that require a higher degree of design and assembly, such as cosmetics, model pictures, and so on.

Bookbinding using this binding method is not easy to over-thick, otherwise it is difficult to read. At the same time, in order to ensure the quality of folding, reducing folding folds, the number of folding is not easy too much, and more parallel folding method is used. The book of the Swiss binding method: Gelatin is used for cold binding, and the spine is wrapped around the back of the book, as shown in Figure 3N. The entire book core is attached to the cover in three places. It should be noted that the width of the bond is greater than the width of the back of the book. The cover sheet is usually slightly thicker, with two lines of indentation. After opening the cover, you can clearly see the back of the book block covered with the back of the book.

Because the back of the package book is not bonded to the cover, the flexible book spins the whole book easier to flatten. It is easy to read and read, feels good, and the cover can also be designed. Take advantage of it. The wrapped book block can be trimmed on three sides. If a large front opening is used, it can only be trimmed at the head and feet.

Second, the Finnish package method

This form of cover wrapping was originally filed in Finland as a patent, but it was also first introduced by the Martini company in Switzerland to industrial processing. At present, this form of parcel is widely used by all countries in the world.

Initially, this cover wrap method was mainly used for the binding of student textbooks. Due to excellent scanning results, it is now applied more to bookbinding with thicker book blocks.

A typical wireless glue cover only has four indentation lines, and the cover using this method of wrapping has six indentation lines. Unlike ordinary glue books, the cover is not glued to the back of the entire book, but is glued on the sides of the seal, the seal, and the side of the book block. Because the cover is pressed with six lines of indentation, books using this type of wrapping method can easily be laid flat on the table, and it is not easy to ask for a long time.

Looking again at the processing of the book block, the book block is still glued, and after milling, backing, shorning, sawing and other processes, it enters the gluing process. The difference is that it uses cold glue instead of hot melt glue. In the double brushing of the back of the book, the glue of the first brush is relatively thin, and the adhesiveness is also weak. The main part is to connect the loose leaves in the book block; the second time the brushing glue is thicker, and The stickiness is also large, so that it can be opened on the back of the book into a glue layer with a certain thickness, flexibility and smoothness. Finally, a layer of spine paper is attached to the adhesive layer, and the entire back of the book block is wrapped by it. Then brush side glue, side glue is hot melt adhesive, brushing width of about 4mm, hot melt adhesive to ensure that the cover and back of the book can be a good overlap.

Since the cover pressed with six indentation lines is not completely bonded to the back of the book block, a gap is formed between the back of the book block and the cover. At the same time, the two outermost indentation lines have become the “twist chain” that connects the cover and the book block, and books are easy to read, whether they are flipped or flat.

Finally, after two squeezes, the book block and the cover are perfectly connected.

Third, the European package method

This form of parcel is actually a modification of the Finnish parcel method and is a simplified form of it.

It was first used by Wohlenberg in Germany for industrial processing. Unlike the Finnish wrapping method, the cover of this wrapping method requires only 5 indentation lines. The book block behind the back of the book is glued on the first and second indentation lines of the seal, and the cover is pasted, and the bottom is glued on the fourth and fifth tracks and the back of the book block is wrapped. .

Fourth, the tube package method

This type of package is the same as the Finnish package method, which was originally filed in Finland. There is no direct contact between the book cover and the book block bound in this form. As shown in Fig. 6, the back of the book block is not wrapped with a single-sided book back paper, but is wrapped with a "paper tube" and the back side of the "paper tube" is glued and glued to the back of the book. This 'tube' that resembles the function of the back of the book can be made of paper, but it can also be made of other materials. The cover used in the press has four indentation lines, and the other half of the "paper tube" is completely bonded to the cover at the first and fourth indentation lines. Thus, the cover and the book block are asked to pass through the paper tube. ', connected up.

This type of cover wrap can use either cold glue or hot melt glue.

Fifth, the opera script package method

This distinctive style of the cover package is different from the above, and was first introduced by a professional binding company based in Bern, Switzerland, on the basis of other forms of improvement, and was subsequently widely welcomed by customers. The cover of the paper is usually a paperboard with four indentation lines. The inside of the paperboard, which is often referred to as the cover 2 and the cover 3, is affixed with a more flexible paper, or with the text paper. Larger difference of 80 ~ 150g/m2 offset paper.

The first to fourth indentation lines on the cover are not attached to the ring lining but are wrapped around the back of the book block. In this way, a hollow area is formed in the book block and the cover, and the books are easier to unfold and hard to pull back when they are flipped.

The advantages of this form of cover wrapping are obvious, but it also has its drawbacks, mainly because the cover needs to be specially processed. This hard cover book block can not only be glued, but also the same effect can be achieved with a lock stitch. This form of cover is now used in many high-quality product catalogs, reference books, business reports, commemorative albums and other small-volume products.

VI. Quile-FR package method

Querum is a printing company based in Kempten, southern Germany. In the printing process of books, it designed a novel cover package for customers. Finally, it is named after this company's name.

This form of parcel development has now extended to many new forms, of which the simplest form is currently mainly used in products with a book block thickness of less than 20mm. The biggest difference between it and other packages is that the cover is pressed with eight indentation lines. The two outermost indentation lines at the upper and lower covers ask the glue to be glued to the book block, which guarantees the entire book. The shape is stable and the book block is easier to flatten out. If the thickness of the book block is greater than 20mm, this type of package is still used, and a layer of polyester material should be added to the back of the book to reinforce the back of the book.

Seventh, American style package method

This kind of parcel first appeared in the United States, and is similar to the script script introduced earlier. However, the former uses a paper with good flexibility as a ring liner, and its entire length is the same as the width of the cover; the latter uses a scrim as the ring liner, and its length is also shorter. Its seal is pressed upwards with four indentation lines. The entire ring lining is bonded to the cover at the two seals and three seals, and the width is approximately 10 to 12 mm. As shown in Figure 9. The back of the book block is not adhered to the cover, so a middle gap is formed when the first to fourth indentation lines are read. The flatness of the book is good, and the books are not easily deformed due to long-term reading.

Eight, rigid cover wrap

This type of cover wrapper is actually a transitional form between paperback and hardcover books. It is similar to the one-sided hardcover, but the link between the text and the text of the book block is glued instead of the sewing thread.

This type of wrapping uses cardboard as the cover, so it is called "rigid case binding." It is better than yellow cardboard for cover protection. The thickness of the board depends on the thickness of the book block.

Hard cover wrap books often use the half-face method in hardcover book cover production. First fold the liner back in half. One side of the liner is completely glued with the cover sheet, and the other side is only coated with a layer of 3~5mm wide tape to adhere to the book block. The front and rear shells are connected by fabrics and glued directly to the back of the book block. Finally, if you need to print a book title or other decorative designs, you can also use the printed color cover to match the cardboard.

Nine, the British style cover wrap method

The wrapper cover is a paperboard with four indentation lines, which is glued to the book block at the back and top and bottom of the book, in the same way as a normal package. The difference is that, usually, the cover is larger than the width of the book block, similar to the flap of a hardcover book. There is also a protective cover on the outside of the cover. The length of the plain paper printing and protection should also be greater than the width of the cover. It should be folded back and forth. It resembles the cover of the hardcover book. The entire cover must be on the cover of the cardboard. The back of the book is glued, which is different from hardcover books. Some books are not only glued at the back of the book, but also glued to the cardboard cover at the mouth.
