The third type is called PVC, or PVC for short, which is made by adding a large amount of plasticizer (DHEA) and other additives to the PVC resin. Most supermarkets purchase and package foods are such cling film. PVC cling film is transparent, easy to break, has good viscosity, and the price is low.

People’s concerns about plastic wrap are mainly focused on plasticizer components such as DEHA (di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate) and DEHP (di-2-ethylhexyl) phthalate. Because of this, the Hygienic Standards for the Use of Additives for Food Containers and Packaging Materials have different provisions for the two: the specific migration of DEHA must not exceed 18 mg/kg; the specific migration of DEHP must not exceed 1.5 mg/kg, and DEHP can only be used for contact. Non-fat food materials and must not be used in infant food materials.
