CC Wong’s career has always been printed. He has been in business for more than 15 years and is particularly interested in prepress and desktop publishing. In 1993, he went to Manchester City University in the United Kingdom to study printing technology. In 1996, he obtained an honorary bachelor degree. Since then, he has continued to study in work or field training. He is fortunate to study prepress technology and color management throughout the world.
This issue continues to introduce the remaining six tools of the Print Production Tool Bar, namely "Add Printer Marks", "Crop Pages", "Fix Hairlines", "Transparency Flattening", "PDF Optimizer" and "JDF Job Definitions."
Add Printer Marks
Printing marks include cutting corners, bleeding lines, cross-colored crosshairs, color control strips, file names, and so on, which can help DTP and CtF users, such as the production of film processes, and impositioners can target color crosshair imprints and printing plates. , And in the draft (regardless of traditional or digital), if adding color control strips on each page can help us to judge the eye or use the density meter to measure the ink density and dot of the color draft. In addition, the cutting corner allows us to check the size of the document, and the film imprinter can also know the position of the cutting.
To add a print mark to a PDF page, the first condition is that the area of the paper or media (Page or Media Size) must be larger than the document size, and there must be enough white space on all sides of the file (minimum about half a inch or 13 mm). Place a print mark, otherwise you won't be able to add a print mark. Even if Acrobat lets you do an Add Printer Marks action, it won't warn or indicate that the Page Size is not enough.
Adding a print mark simply presses the Add Printer Marks icon on the print toolbar (see Figure 1). Its dialog window will pop up. Here we select the desired print mark and press OK. Figure 2 shows the increase of the print mark. After the result.

Crop Pages
Sometimes the size of the PDF file is large, then Crop Pages allows us to easily change the size of the file. If the Page Size is larger than the document Size, you can also use Crop Pages to increase the file size. To change the size of the file, click on the Crop Pages icon on the Printing toolbar. When the Crop Pages dialog box appears, click on Art (Acrobat is translated into works), and then determine the distance between the four sides of the document. The less you have, the bigger the file will be.

Fix Hairlines
Output or printing companies often encounter printed documents with some very fine lines, may be less than 0.06point (about 20 microns or 0.02mm), generally more than 175LPI offset printing or 20 microns FM screen printing can accept 0.06point lines If the line is too young, it may be broken or completely unprinted.
The Fix Hairlines tool can help us to modify substandard young threads. For example, the Preflight tool (previously introduced) found that the files contain extremely fine lines. At this time, we can correct all the young threads in the file and change them to 0.06 points. Or thicker lines (some paper, such as book paper, need thick lines) to meet the printing requirements, of course, it is best to inform the other party when modifying the customer's documents.
To thicken the dots in the file, click on the Fix Hairlines icon on the Printing toolbar. Of course, you can also click on the Acrobat menu - Tools > Print Production > Fix Hairlines. The dialog box that pops up allows us to set the desired Value and correction range. If you include corrections for font line thickness, different fonts and font sizes will have different effects, so it's best to check afterwards.
