Shenzhen Furniture will implement “real environmental protection” reform fund subsidies or up to 40%

Shenzhen atmospheric environmental management has made heavy punches. Since May 1 this year, the manufacturing process of furniture products in Shenzhen will completely ban the use of solvent-based paints, adhesives and toxic plates. By then, Shenzhen furniture will become a real environmentally friendly furniture. This is what the reporter learned from the VOCs pollution control work conference held by the city's furniture manufacturing enterprises.

In recent years, with the continuous deepening of atmospheric environmental management, Shenzhen's air quality has been continuously improved, and it has consistently reached the national air quality secondary standard. However, it should be noted that in the case of continuous improvement of various pollutant indicators, the problem of ozone pollution in Shenzhen has become increasingly prominent.

Since 2015, the number of days of ozone as a major pollutant has exceeded PM2.5 for two consecutive years, becoming the primary pollutant. Therefore, the control of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) pollution becomes the key to atmospheric environmental management.

The furniture industry is not only the traditional traditional industry in Shenzhen, but also the industry with the largest emissions of VOCs in Shenzhen. The annual use of paint is about 20,000 tons, and VOCs emissions exceed 10,000 tons. In order to further improve the quality of the atmospheric environment, in February this year, the municipal government issued the “Shenzhen Atmospheric Environmental Quality Improvement Plan (2017-2020)”, which explicitly required the city's furniture industry to ban the use of high volatile organic content coatings by the end of June.

Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Technical Specification "Limited Quantity of Hazardous Substances in Finished Furniture and Raw and Auxiliary Materials" will also implement the second-stage limit requirement from May 1, 2017. The implementation of this standard means that the manufacturing process of furniture products in Shenzhen will be completely banned. Solvent-based coatings, adhesives, and toxic panels are used to severely limit toxic and hazardous residue levels.

The person in charge of the Municipal Habitat Environment Committee said that after the water-based renovation of the furniture manufacturing industry, the city's VOCs emissions will be reduced by more than 80%. Shenzhen furniture products will become the real environmentally friendly furniture in the domestic market.

It is reported that in order to promote the furniture enterprise to complete the transformation of the production line as soon as possible, the municipal government will grant financial subsidies to enterprises that have completed the transformation of all production lines, and the subsidy standard is expected to increase to 40% of the cost of water-based transformation of the production line of the enterprise.
